Tamil Nadu Election Results 2024: The state of Tamil Nadu is currently counting votes to elect a 39-member parliament in the one-off election for the lower house of parliament, which will be held on April 19.
In Tamil Nadu, by-elections will be held between the Dravidian Nationalist Movement (DMK), the All India Anna Dravidian Nationalist Alliance (AIADMK) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
The BJP’s goal this year was to attract voters seeking change and a third force beyond the ruling DMK and AIADMK.
According to the Election Commission website, at around 6.20 pm, the DMK had won 22 of the 39 seats, INC nine, VCK two, CPI two, CPI(M) two, MDMK one and IUML one.
Important constituencies include Coimbatore where DMK’s Ganapati Rajkumar is leading, Thoothukudi where DMK’s Kanimozhi is leading, Chennai Central where DMK’s Dayanidhi Maran is leading and Nilgiris where DMK’s A Raja is leading.

According to key exit poll results, the ruling DMK-led INDIA alliance is likely to win 33-37 seats, while the NDA is likely to win 2-4 seats and the state opposition AIADMK is likely to win 0-2 seats.
In the last Lok Sabha elections in 2019, the DMK won 24 seats, Indian National Congress eight, Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi one, CPI(M) two, CPI two, IUML one and AIADMK one.
In Coimbatore, BJP Opposition Leader K Annamalai is contesting against AIADMK leader Singai Ramachandran and DMK leader Ganapati P Rajkumar.
In Thoothukudi, DMK leader and incumbent MP Kanimozhi, who had defeated BJP’s Tamilisai Soundararajan in 2019, is the main candidate.
In the Chennai Central constituency, BJP’s Vinoj P Selvam and former Union Minister Dayanidhi Maran of the DMK are in the fray.
In Nilgiris, a three-way battle is underway with DMK’s A Raja, AIADMK’s Logesh Tamil Selvan and BJP’s L Murugan vying for victory.
