KUALA LUMPUR: Pakistan’s Tayiba Ashraf clinched gold medals across three different disciplines during the International Taekwondo Championship in Malaysia on Tuesday.
The national athlete emerged triumphant in the virtual fight, pair poomsae and 49 kg fight.
6,500 athletes from 35 countries took part in the championship.
“I’m overwhelmed with joy and pride! I’ve won three gold medals in the International Taekwondo Championship held in Malaysia, and this achievement is a gift to Pakistan on our Independence Day,” Tayiba shared on her social media platform.
After the historic achivement she thanked her parents, coaches and supporters for their unwavering belief in her.
“I couldn’t have done it without the support of my parents, coaches, friends, and supporters. Your prayers and trust in me have been my driving force. I request you all to continue believing in me as I strive to reach new heights. My next goal is to take our flag to the Olympics and make our nation proud.”
