Fashion editors aren’t the only ones enthralled with the drop-waist dress trend: Photos of Taylor Swift on a recent double date show the singer also buying into the return of the sculpted silhouette. In a departure from other street style trends, she got creative with layering by adding a corset underneath her dress.
Swift’s best friend, Brittany Mahomes, shared photos from her trip to see Swift perform in London and Amsterdam on Monday, July 15. The photos include two shots of what appears to be a double date with their respective partners, Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes (Brittany’s husband) and Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce (Taylor’s boyfriend). Taylor Swift stands front and center in the group photo, embracing Brittany in a Cinderella blue drop-waist dress by Vivienne Westwood. A plaid corset by the same designer peeks out from under a midi-length asymmetrical strap top.

Swift’s look for the night of their double date reflected her penchant for mixing luxury with a capital L with affordable pieces that fans can copy. She carried a Vivienne Westwood heart-shaped bag (an innovative shape that’s becoming increasingly popular among designers from Alaïa to Kate Spade) and completed her look with $80 yellow sandals from Chinese Laundry. The hues of the bag and shoes seemed to pick up the hues woven into the print of her plaid corset.

Swift is particular about choosing designers who are from the cities she visits, and it would have been even more fitting if Swift, Kelsey, and Mahomes’ double date had taken place in London, home of Vivienne Westwood. (It’s not clear from Mahomes’ post where the double date took place.)
