Cartersville (Ga.) receiver Jamauri Brice committed to Georgia Tech immediately after his official visit to the Flats this weekend. The versatile receiver is expected to play as a slot receiver for the Yellow Jackets.
“It was awesome and I really liked it,” Brice said of the visit. “I enjoy being in Atlanta and I really like Georgia Tech. The coaching staff has been really receptive and embraced my enthusiasm.”
For Bryce, technology was the obvious choice.
“It’s really close to home, it’s close to my parents’ house. I really like Georgia Tech’s scheme, the passing game, the pro-style offense. I think it’s a real fit. They’re really good at getting the ball to their playmakers,” he said. “They love their slot.”
Brice mentioned it to the Tech staff during a meeting with head coach Brent Key, and they were both excited.
“I was happy for them and I was happy for them. They’ve been scouting me for a long time,” Bryce said of the Jackets. “I had a meeting with Coach Key and he was enthusiastic.”
Trent McKnight took over as Tech’s receivers coach, and Brice quickly bonded with Flatts’ new receivers coach after the transition.
“McKnight hasn’t been here long at Tech, but me and him have developed a bond,” Brice said. “They want me to move around a lot and I play more inside than outside, so right now I’m playing more outside.”
