Wesleyan (Ga.) tight end Connor Rausch committed to stay local and play at Georgia Tech after his official visit to the Flats over the weekend, a decision that also helps the Jackets program rebuild depth at the tight end position after two big senior classes were replaced following the 2023 and 2024 seasons under head coach Brent Key.

Rausch worked out under Tech coaches, including the tight ends coach, and earned an offer the hard way during the 400-player prospect camp. Nate Block Offensive Coordinator Buster Faulkner To secure an offer from the Jackets.

“It was a lot of fun with a lot of people there, the coaches were good and they really coached me so I really wanted to go to Tech,” he said. “When I got the news from Coach Brock and Coach Faulkner I was super excited because that’s what I’ve always wanted. I’ve been to Tech five or six times. This is a dream come true.”

Bullock protected Rausch during his visit.

“The visit was awesome. It was a great visit. They showed us everywhere and we had great hosts. I ate a lot of food and got to learn more about the campus. Coach Brock hosted me and he was great.”

Head Coach Brent Key He made a strong impression during his one-on-one meeting with Rausch.

“Coach Key told us his life story and goals. He reminds me of my dad, who grew up surrounded by country people. I really like him,” Rausch said.

Foreign Minister Rausch made his decision public for the first time to visitors during a dinner on Saturday night.

“I decided to enroll during dinner and stood in front of about 150 people to announce my commitment. I’m great at public speaking so I wasn’t nervous and I stood up with a few other people who might also decide to enroll. Hopefully they’ll decide soon too,” he said. “We need to get some other players in. I was talking to a few players before this weekend about enrolling at Tech.”

After committing to Tech, Rausch plans to continue recruiting for the Jackets alongside future teammate, quarterback Grady Adamson, who accompanied him on his visit to Tech.

“Grady’s a great, fun kid. He reminds me a lot of Aaron Philo,” he said. “I’ve spent time with his host, Graham Knowles, and he’s great too.”

It was Philo who explained to Rausch the true appeal of this iteration of Tech football.

“The coaches were definitely the reason I wanted to attend here. I talked to Aaron before my visit and asked him why I wanted to come to Tech and he said I’d just have to spend a weekend with the coaches and I’d understand, and it only took me a day to realize that,” he said. “I realized that these are the guys I wanted to be with.”

As for his role, Rausch plans to bulk up and play the tight end position for a long time at Flatts.

“They gave us a slide show on how they use tight ends, and last year there were only eight plays where no tight ends were in the game, so I feel like I can split out and run really well even at 260 pounds,” he said.
