Tech Women Host Radford, Tech Men Host Navy

The Roanoke Times

The Virginia Tech women’s basketball team will host Radford University on Dec. 15, while the Virginia Tech men’s basketball team will host Naval College on the same day.

The Roanoke Times obtained contracts from Tech for these two games, as well as several other non-conference games that Tech has yet to announce.

Tech will pay Radford University $25,000 for the women’s basketball game on Dec. 15. Tech defeated rival New River Valley College 85-40 last season.

The Tech women’s team will host Coppin State University, which is a member of the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference, on Nov. 16. Tech will pay Coppin State $20,000. The last time the teams met, in November 2021, Tech won 85-32.

The Tech women’s team, which beat Rutgers last season, will host Rutgers this season in a home-and-home matchup.

The Virginia Tech men’s team will host Navy on Dec. 15. The team will pay Navy $90,000. The last time the two teams played was in November 2021 at the Veterans Classic at Navy, with Virginia Tech winning 77-57.

The Tech men’s team will host CAA member North Carolina A&T on Dec. 12. Tech will pay A&T $95,000. The last time the teams met, in December 2018, Tech defeated A&T 82-60.

The full schedule for Tech’s men’s and women’s non-league games has yet to be released.

As previously reported, Tech will receive $150,000 from Charlotte Sporting Events for its women’s rematch against Iowa on Nov. 10 in Charlotte.

As previously reported, Tech will receive $30,000 from Position Sports for its Hall of Fame Series doubleheader against Penn State on Nov. 15 in Baltimore.

As previously announced, the men’s teams from Tech, Michigan, Xavier and South Carolina will compete in the Beach Division of the Fort Myers Tip-Off Tournament in Florida on Nov. 25 and 27. Matchups have yet to be announced. Tech will also host yet-to-be-named schools from other divisions in on-campus matches at the event.

VMI competes in the Greenbrier Tournament

VMI will compete in the inaugural Greenbrier Tip-Off Tournament, Nov. 15-16 in Greenbrier, West Virginia.

The Keydets will compete in the River Division with Charleston Southern, Tennessee Tech and Texas Rio Grande Valley. Matchups have yet to be announced.

The Mountain Division will feature Wisconsin, Pittsburgh, Louisiana State University and Central Florida and will determine another champion.

Radford to compete in Daytona tournament

Radford is scheduled to compete at the Sunshine Slam at the Ocean Center in Daytona Beach, Florida on November 25th and 26th.

The Highlanders will join Chicago State, Drexel and Purdue Fort Wayne in the Ocean Bracket, with matchups yet to be announced.

Another champion will be decided in the beach bracket, which includes Clemson, Penn State, San Francisco and Fordham.
