Aubrey Barnhart announced Friday night that she will follow former Texas Tech coach Craig Snyder into the Tennessee softball team.
“I’m going home!” Barnhart, a native of Pleasant View, Tennessee, wrote in a social media post. The 5-foot-8 utility player played at Alabama for two years before transferring to Texas Tech for the 2024 season.
She started all 40 games she played last season, batting .277 with seven home runs and 23 RBIs. She started 13 of 28 games at Alabama, most of which came in her freshman season.
Barnhart is the fourth player added through the transfer portal this offseason. She joins Washington infielder Kinsey Fiedler, South Carolina pitcher Sage Marjetko and Texas infielder Ryan Braun.
Snyder was hired in June as an assistant on Karen Weekly’s staff as hitting coach, replacing Chris Malveaux, who and his wife, Kate, were hired as the new co-head coaches at Auburn University.
Former Penn State assistant Stephanie Sanders, who married Snyder in June, will also join the team as an assistant at Tennessee.

Barnhart was named the 2020 Gatorade Tennessee State Player of the Year at Goodpasture Christian School in Madison and was the No. 3 player in the 2021 Extra-Inning Softball Rankings.
Sophomore outfielder Jamison Brockenbrough, who has played in 44 games in 2023, is the only Lady Vols player to enter the transfer portal. Brockenbrough was used as a pinch-hitter this season after being a starter as a freshman. She entered the portal ahead of the super regional series against Tennessee and Alabama.
