New York Governor Kathy Hawkle said she had directed the New York State Police to step up security measures, including increased law enforcement, heightened surveillance and a thorough vetting process.
“We’re making sure we’re prepared for any situation that may arise, and that’s why we’ve taken a number of precautions,” said Bruce Blakeman, the county commissioner of Nassau County, which borders New York City, where the match will be held.

“We take every threat seriously. We have the same procedures for every threat. We don’t take threats lightly. We follow up on all leads,” he added.
The terrorist group, known by its acronym Islamic State (IS), posted an image on a British chat site of a drone flying over the Eisenhower Park cricket ground in Nassau County and showing the date of the India-Pakistan match, “September 6, 2024.”
A screenshot of the post was broadcast on NBC New York TV, which reported that county leaders had asked the FAA to make Eisenhower Park a no-fly zone for drones.
New York authorities have downplayed the ISIS stronghold as “not a credible threat” but say they are monitoring the situation, strengthening security measures and dedicating resources to prepare for any eventuality.
