DI KHAN:
A Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) official’s brother, himself a constable, was martyred in a late-night terrorist attack in Bannu district of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, where heavily armed terrorists stormed the family residence, opened fire, and later set the house ablaze.
Police told The Express Tribune that around 2025 heavily armed terrorists surrounded the home of CTD official Javed and his brother, Constable Rafidullah, in the jurisdiction of Hovid Police Station late in the night.
The assailants indiscriminately opened fire. Despite being outnumbered, Constable Rafidullah resisted and fought back with remarkable courage. He was overpowered and taken away with his two nephews.
All the three were kidnapped and the terrorists also torched the house before fleeing. Later Rafidullah was killed and his body was found dumped in open fields. The two boys were still missing.
Soon after the assault, District Police Officer (DPO) Bannu, Saleem Abbas Kulachi, reached the site with a heavy contingent of law enforcement personnel. A search operation was launched under his direct supervision to trace and apprehend the attackers.
The funeral of Constable Rafidullah was later held at Bannu Police Lines with full official honors. A police contingent presented a guard of honor, while senior officers placed floral wreaths on the martyr’s coffin. The ceremony was attended by DIG Bannu Region Sajjad Khan, SP CTD Fazal Wahid, SP City Tohid Khan, SP Investigation Sajid Mumtaz, along with a large number of police officers, constables, and the martyr’s family members.
