The Texas Tech basketball team now knows where it will head in Big 12 Conference play for the 2024-25 season.

The conference on Thursday announced a new 16-team opponent matrix for the Big 12 Conference, which will welcome four new members: Arizona, Arizona State, Colorado and Utah, replacing Texas and Oklahoma.

The men’s team will play 20 conference games, five of which will be played exclusively away, another five will be played exclusively at home and the final five will feature both home and away opponents.

For the women, there will be 18 conference games, three of which will be home and away opponents and six that will be home or away games only.

The Red Raiders have several notable home games coming up in coach Grant McCasland’s second season, with Tech facing both Houston and Arizona twice each, as well as Arizona State, Oklahoma State and TCU.

Houston and Arizona are expected to be the highly ranked teams in the preseason polls and are considered among the favorites to win their conferences.

Baylor, UC San Francisco, Colorado, Iowa State and West Virginia will also be traveling to Lubbock. Tech played Baylor and UC San Francisco twice each last season and visited the Cyclones and Mountaineers.

The Red Raiders will embark on road trips to BYU, Cincinnati, Kansas, Kansas State and Utah.

Texas Tech is coming off a 23-11 season in which the Red Raiders finished 11-7 in the Big 12, tied for third in the conference standings and advanced to the first round of the NCAA Tournament. The Red Raiders welcome back All-Big 12 third-team selection Darrion Williams and add some new faces through the transfer portal, including JT Toppin, who transferred from New Mexico. Toppin was named Mountain West Freshman of the Year last season.

The Lady Raiders will play Colorado, Houston and TCU twice next season and host BYU, Utah, Oklahoma State, Baylor, Cincinnati and West Virginia at home.

The Lady Raiders’ road schedule includes trips to Arizona, Arizona State, Iowa State, Kansas, Kansas State and UCF.

Texas Tech went 17-16 last season and will welcome a host of new faces into the 2024-25 season, including Lubbock native Adelie Blacklock and Wichita Falls native Jalynn Bristow, transfers from Oregon State and Iowa State, respectively.
