LUBBOCK, Texas — The Texas Tech University Museum will hold two public events Thursday, according to a press release.
“The Art of Seeing” will take place at Diamond M Gallery from 10:30 a.m. According to a press release, the program will teach an easy and rewarding way to observe art skills, while also cultivating observational and communication abilities.
Events in this series include “Women of Diamond M: Artists and Forms,” which celebrates the opening of the new Diamond M exhibition with works by female artists. This exhibition will focus on the stories and works of women included in the Diamond M collection.
The event, “Secure the Treasure, Secure the Peace: FBI and HSI’s Fight Against Illegal Trafficking in Art and Heritage,” begins at 6 p.m.
At the event, a senior advisor from the Department of Homeland Security will deliver a public educational talk on how smuggled art and cultural heritage continues to increase in the U.S. and around the world, and FBI Agent Randolph “Randy” J. Deaton IV will present the efforts the agency is making to combat these issues.
The museum is open Tuesday through Saturday from 10am to 5pm, Sunday from 1pm to 5pm, and closed on Mondays. You can find more information about these two events on the museum’s website.
