Arunachal Pradesh Election Results 2024 Live: The counting of votes is underway for the Arunachal Pradesh Assembly elections. The ruling BJP has already secured ‘uncontested’ victories in 10 seats and is likely to retain power as trends are more than halfway. While the Congress is leading in one seat, the National People’s Party (NPEP) is leading in nine seats and is also ahead in seven others. Votes cast for 133 candidates in the elections to the 50 state Assembly seats have been counted in around 24 constituencies. The counting of votes for the state assembly elections in Arunachal and Sikkim was brought forward from June 4 to Sunday as the term of the state assemblies in both states ends on June 2 and new assemblies must be constituted by that date. The state assembly elections in the states were held on April 19, simultaneously with the first and largest round of elections to the Indian Lok Sabha. The overall voter turnout was recorded at 82.95 percent, exceeding the 2019 state assembly elections.
Summary of 2019 accomplishments: In the last elections in April 2019, Pema Khandu became the chief minister and the BJP came to power. Khandu went undefeated in Mukt, his family’s stronghold.He was also elected unopposed in a by-election in 2011 following the death of his father, former prime minister Dorjee Khandu, and in 2014. The ruling party won all Lok Sabha seats and 41 constituencies in the 2019 elections. The JD(U) won seven seats, the NPP five, the Congress four and the PPA one. Two independent candidates also won.
