The Tech Power Players 50 recognizes leaders in fields such as software, cybersecurity, AI and robotics, climate technology, medical technology, and cryptocurrencies. This list examines the impact their careers have had on technology and business, taking into account the technology-specific contributions and innovations that have kept the industry vibrant during difficult economic times. This is the third year in a row that Will Ahmed has received this honor and the first year that Emily Capodilupo has been named to this list of extraordinary leaders.

“We are honored to once again be included in the Boston Globe’s annual list,” said Will Ahmed, founder and CEO of WHOOP. “WHOOP is proud to be based in Boston, home to so many important research and medical centers and a dynamic startup ecosystem. It’s also great to have Emily Capodilupo, SVP of Research, Algorithms and Data, on board. Without her, WHOOP wouldn’t be where it is today.”

“It’s important to recognize the leaders of the innovation economy who are developing world-changing technologies,” said Linda Henry, CEO of Boston Globe Media. “Through daily coverage and by recognizing the pioneers driving this innovation with this list, The Globe is proud to share the story of this incredible community and the incredible impact it brings to our region and beyond.” We are committed to communicating the impact of

The Globes are Dave Balter, Larry Vaughn, Paul English, Yasmin Cruz-Ferrin, Aisha Francis, Yvonne Hao, Linda Henry, Scott Kerzner, Youngme Moon, Eric Paley, and Katie Ray. The committee and the Globe newsroom submitted more than 200 nominations, with business impact (value created, revenue, jobs) and broader impact in the technology community in terms of ideas, reputation, and mentorship. They scored candidates based on strength. Several committee members were included on the list. These decisions were made solely by Globe staff.

“Boston is a leader in technology and innovation, and we believe there are many opportunities even in a difficult economic climate,” said Greg Huang, Globe’s business and technology editor. “For our third year, we wanted to keep the Power Players list independent to reflect broader trends in the industry, such as growing interest in areas such as AI and climate technology.”

“We are truly honored to be recognized as part of New England’s tech power players alongside Will. It reflects our efforts,” said Emily Capodilupo, WHOOP’s senior vice president of research, algorithms and data. “I am honored to contribute to the dynamic innovation environment that thrives here in Boston.”
