Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang’s wife Krishna Kumari Rai is leading in Namuchi Singittan and SKM’s Puran Kumar Gurung is leading in Chujachen, while Pawan Kumar Chamling’s Sikkim Democratic Front (SDF) is leading in two seats.
The main contenders are the ruling Sikkim Krantikari Morcha (SKM), seeking a second consecutive term, and the opposition Sikkim Democratic Front (SDF), seeking to unseat them. Also vying for power are candidates from the BJP, Indian National Congress and People’s Action Party of Sikkim (CAP-S). Among the 146 candidates vying for seats in the Sikkim state elections are Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang and his wife Krishna Kumari Rai, former Chief Minister Pawan Kumar Chamling and well-known former Indian footballer Baichung Bhutia.
Sikkim voted to elect a 32-member state assembly. Votes are due to be counted for nine seats in Gangtok, seven in Namchi, five in Pakyong, four each in Soren and Gyalsing, and three in Mangan. In 2019, the SKM won 17 seats, beating the 15 won by Chamling’s party, putting an end to the SDF’s 25-year rule.

Sikkim Democratic Front (SDF) leader Pawan Kumar Chamling on Tuesday expressed confidence of victory in the state assembly elections and urged party workers to maintain peace in the state.
The SDF top leader slammed the Sikkim Krantikari Morcha (SKM) government in the state for indulging in a “culture of political violence” even against opponents and ordinary citizens opposed to the ruling party’s principles and decisions, thus “endangering peace and security” in the state.
“The people have unequivocally condemned the political violence perpetrated by SKM miscreants and have decided to support the SDF’s return to power,” he said. He was addressing a meeting of the SDF’s central executive committee at the party office at Indira Bypass near here.
