Jacksonville, Florida – “This Week in Jacksonville: Business Edition” focuses on Comcast RISE. A news release called it a “major announcement for small businesses,” and it includes $500,000 in grants to entrepreneurs in Northeast Florida.

“Rise is our small business grant program,” said Michelle Oyola McGovern, vice president of government affairs for Comcast Florida. “We are focused on small businesses in the Jacksonville community. This is one of our 100 grant recipients who will receive a full range of financial and support services for small businesses to help them grow and expand.” This is the grant process that selects the recipients. [It] This includes commercials, advertising, and even training. ”

Rich Rollins is vice president of business for Comcast. He explained how interested applicants can take advantage of this opportunity.

“So the selection process is very simple. You have to be in business for three years, you have to be an independent proprietor and you have to have less than 100 employees. Other than that, the other criteria are No. We chose Jacksonville, which is one of the five cities where we have a large veteran population, so we have some veteran-based owners getting grants in this round. I’m looking forward to it.”

One previous winner is Nichole Mobley, who runs logistics and transportation company T&N Xpress. She received her RISE grant at exactly the right time about two years ago.

“When I got that call, I was able to create a 30-second video about my business, which was about who I am, my brand, [and] what was happening here? And it was a pivotal time during the coronavirus pandemic,” Mobley said. “So transportation, logistics, that field was booming at the time. A lot of people started following me and asking questions about transportation. Needless to say, with the help of Comcast, I was able to get my name… We were able to spread the word to the world.”

Mobley, Rollins and McGovern join this week’s podcast conversation.
