sea eagle Blues fans will wait nervously to find out the extent of his hamstring injury. Tom Trbojevic Manly lost 30-24 to the Dolphins on Thursday night. Wayne Bennett’s side suffered a second straight defeat to the Sea Eagles at a wet Suncorp Stadium, but the night took a turn for the worse when Trbojevic limped off the field in the 68th minute.

The star full-back injured his hamstring while trying to deny Jack Bostock what would have been the winning try. Desperate to prevent him from scoring, Trbojevic ran across the field and tried to tackle the Dolphins winger, but appeared to strain his hamstring with the extra force, before colliding with a cameraman at speed.

After the game, the manly coach anthony siebold Confirmed that No. 1 is suffering. Different hamstring tweaks, at least the fifth of his career so far. Trobujevic’s injury means his ability to play in at least the first game of the Blues State of Origin Series, which begins next month, is very much in doubt.

Trojevic is believed to have suffered a Grade 2 hamstring injury, which would typically mean he would be out for four to six weeks. However, he also had a hamstring issue and his recovery could take longer.

Tests on Friday will determine the extent of the injury and when he will be able to return, but he is likely to miss at least the opening round of the Origin Series in Sydney on June 5. This is a big blow for the 27-year-old, who has long struggled to get through the series and a full season of State of Origin. N.R.L.. In 2022, Trbojevic was excluded from Origin. dislocated shoulder. Then last year he suffered a season-ending injury in the second Origin game when he tore his pectoral muscle.

The hamstring injury occurred after Trbojevic had been rested with an ankle problem, but was able to continue playing after being treated by Manly trainers. Compounding Manly’s injury problems, winger Jason Saab also left the pitch in the 16th minute with a shoulder injury and did not return.

“Jason needs a scan, but we’re told he’s grade 3,” Siebold said. “We lost those two guys (Trbojevic and Saab) for a while.”

Take the lead again with a manly blow

The Sea Eagles dominated the first 30 minutes, but at the end of the first half the Dolphins scored three quick tries in five minutes and went into the half-time break with a narrow lead. Manly managed to regain the lead early in the second half with Trbojevic brothers Jake and Tom linking up close to the line and the full-back falling over to score his first try of the night.

From there, the Dolphins tied the score with a penalty goal, and Bostock scored the winning goal with less than 15 minutes left. Without Trbojevic, the Sea Eagles were behind on the scoreboard and could do little to threaten the Dolphins in the second half, ultimately trailing by six points.

The Sea Eagles have lost three games this year after giving away a huge early lead, revealing a worrying trend. Manly led 14-0 against Parramatta earlier this season, but lost 28-24. And last week, they held a commanding 20-0 lead against Canberra, only to suffer their biggest home defeat ever, losing 26-24.

The Sea Eagles appeared to have a 16-4 lead against the Dolphins on Thursday, but three tries in the five minutes before half-time ultimately put the game on the line. After the game, captain Daley Cherry-Evans said things like this happen over and over again and must be addressed.

“We’re talking about the same trends here again, so that’s something that needs to be corrected and that we can all help each other,” captain Daly Cherry-Evans said. “Some things have to change to get the results we want. We can fix that. We just have to work harder.”
