JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — First Alert meteorologist Corey Sima is keeping track of the weather.

Rain will be scattered across the Capital Region today, with the heaviest rain concentrated inland. As of 5:30 p.m., rain is limited to areas in the region west of Interstate 301 near Interstate 75.

It’s very nice outside, but a bit windy, especially near the coast.

The winds from the sea will continue through tonight and tomorrow, bringing the possibility of localised rain showers along the coast overnight.

Rain and storms will move inland again on Monday, but a few light showers are possible near Highway 301 after dark.

The threat of storms will gradually increase later in the week with offshore winds. These westerly winds will help temperatures rise back into the mid-90s F by mid-to-late week.

Local weather next weekend will be a little more tropical.

We will be keeping a close eye on the Atlantic later this week. Currently there is very little in the area to watch.

Forecasts indicate the disturbance will develop near the Caribbean Sea and the Bahamas midweek.

Long-range tracks vary widely in distance and intensity, from the Gulf of Mexico to the western Atlantic and from weak disturbances to hurricanes.

There is a lot we don’t know, and we won’t know much until this agitation becomes more organized.

The location of the storm will affect local weather.
