Kelsey, who had been in the audience for all three previous nights of Swift’s London shows, came onstage to cheers as Swift moved from “The Smallest Man in History” to the next song on the setlist, “Do It with a Broken Heart.”
At other Eras Tour shows, it’s usually Swift’s backup dancers who lift her on the floor after the breakup anthem of “The Tortured Poets Department.”
This time, Kelsey, dressed in a top hat and tails coat like Swift’s two other backup dancers, carried Swift to a couch, readying her for the next song, in which she sings about performing while dealing with heartbreak every night.
“The title of ‘So Long London’ should have been ‘Actually Going to London,'” TikTok user Jake Deighton wrote in a video, seemingly referencing her split from British actor Joe Alwyn last year after more than six years in a relationship.
Swift was reportedly living with Alwyn in London, and fans have long speculated that he may have been the inspiration for the love song “London Boy” off Swift’s 2019 album.
The skit was only about a minute long, but predictably, Swifties were thrilled, with Kelsey’s cameo in the video and livestream eliciting roars from the audience.
“That’s one way to force a relationship,” says Fan. I have written.
“Travis Kelce has officially started his era,” read the caption of one video, with a comment underneath saying, “If he’s not rooting for you guys this much then he should quit!”
Onstage, Kelsey powdered Swift’s nose and told her to smile before her next performance.
On social media, fans crowdsourced different angles for Kelsey’s cameo and speculated about how it might have come about.
Several I got it. Kelsey appeared to be wearing a custom-made outfit and red-soled shoes, suggesting the surprise appearance was planned in advance.
One person joked that Kelsey, who has been to a few Eraser Tour concerts as Swift’s boyfriend, is now itching to attend the show. (Swift also attended a few Chiefs games during the recent NFL season, including the Super Bowl, where she flew to Las Vegas after an Eraser Tour show in Tokyo.)
Swift has previously addressed her relationship with Kelsey on several occasions during her Eraser tour shows, most notably by changing the lyrics of the final song, “Karma.”
The lyric changed from “Karma’s the man on the screen, he’s coming straight to me” to “Karma’s the man on the Chiefs, he’s coming straight to me.”
During her time in London, she also posted a photo of herself, Kelsey, Prince William, and his children, Princess Charlotte and Prince George, which the Daily Mail described as “royalty all around.”
