“Trend Micro is committed to delivering the best possible service to our customers,” said Sharda Tickoo, Country Manager, India and SAARC, Trend Micro. “Trend Micro is committed to delivering the best possible service to our customers.” “As business operations, critical infrastructure and everyday life become increasingly dependent on software, securing these systems is more important than ever. Trend Micro’s Zero Day Initiative (ZDI) combines a proactive and thorough approach to vulnerability disclosure with our deep domain expertise to help protect customers faster than ever before. This leadership reduces risk, delivers significant cost savings for businesses and reinforces our commitment to strengthening cybersecurity and supporting business continuity globally.”
Omdia provided an independent comparative analysis of nine global vendors/organizations that publicly research and disclose vulnerabilities, analyzing 1,211 vulnerabilities disclosed in 2023 and assigned a CVE.
Omdia found that Trend disclosed 2.5 times more vulnerabilities than its nearest competitor. ZDI has been the world’s largest vendor-neutral bug bounty program for 16 consecutive years and has led the vulnerability management market since its first market analysis in 2007.
The knowledge and awareness conveyed by ZDI research is incorporated into Trend Vision OneTM The platform includes features such as XDR, attack surface management (ASM) and virtual patching, which enable the company to protect customers faster and more effectively than competitors. For example, network IPS protection kicks in as soon as a vulnerability is discovered and disclosed to the vendor, often weeks or months before an official patch is released.
Overall, in 2023, Omdia found that 10% of all published threats were classified as critical, 69% as high critical, 21% as medium critical, and less than 1% as low critical. These findings highlight the success of programs to discover and address critical vulnerabilities.
The average cost of a data breach due to initial access via an unpatched vulnerability reached a record high of $4.45 million in 2023. This figure highlights the significant financial impact that security incidents have on organizations. Factors contributing to these costs include detection and escalation, notification, post-breach response, and business loss.
As cyber threats become more sophisticated, the financial impact to organizations becomes more severe. Proactive vulnerability management and timely disclosure, which Trends has long advocated, are essential to mitigate these risks.
