Trend Micro, a global leader in cybersecurity solutions, recently concluded the Mumbai leg of its “From Risk to Resilience Global Tour” in India. 100 Attended by prominent security leaders from around the world, 60 The seven-city tour across India follows the success of last year’s tour which covered over 60 countries, including visits to five major cities in India.
Themed “Innovation Meets Adrenaline,” the event featured insightful discussions on topics such as modern cyber resilience, the convergence of Extended Detection and Response (XDR) and Attack Surface Risk Management (ASRM), and strategies for mitigating cloud risk.
Key highlights included a panel discussion titled “On The Fast Track: Winning Strategies for Cyber Integration and Communication” by Nitin Chauhan, CISO, YES Bank and Hitesh Mulani, VP & Group CISO, Mahindra & Mahindra. The panel emphasised on the need for multiple parameters while quantifying cyber risk. Hitesh emphasised on the importance of cyber hygiene and the critical role of complex passwords at the domain level. Keeping in mind the topical nature of GenAI, Nitin discussed the controlled use of GenAI to ensure data confidentiality while Hitesh explained the issue of AI hallucinations and the need for responsible AI practices.
Sharda Tik, recently appointed Country Manager, India and South Asia, Trend Micro, delivered a keynote address focused on the current cyber threat landscape in India. Tik highlighted the expanding attack surface and continued threats from ransomware, phishing, and business email compromise. Additionally, Tik’s session covered emerging trends such as AI-enabled fraud and new attacks that circumvent multi-factor authentication (MFA), highlighting the critical importance of continued innovation in cybersecurity solutions.
Mumbai region’s industries, especially manufacturing and BFSI, have been pioneers in adopting emerging technologies and advanced security measures, making it a mature market for cybersecurity adoption, especially in the BFSI sector where compliance is imperative. This has resulted in a growing demand for hybrid solutions that can effectively address the diverse needs of various organizations.
According to Trend Micro’s latest roundup report, India is the fifth most targeted country in the world for ransomware attacks, with manufacturing, government, and banking being the top three industries targeted by malware. As cyberattacks become increasingly complex, especially with the advent of generative AI, Trend Micro is expanding its Risk to Resilience Global Tour to seven cities across India this year, aiming to share strategies to increase organizational success and foster lasting relationships. Recently, Trend Micro also announced a partnership with Nvidia to create AI cybersecurity tools for data centers.
