Big news for two Philadelphia Union standout players.
Jack McGlynn and Nate Harriel have officially been announced as part of the 2024 U.S. Men’s Olympic Soccer Team and will represent Team USA in Paris.
Both players have progressed through the association’s training programs and for them, getting the opportunity to represent the U.S. national team is a “dream come true.”
“I feel it’s a great honor to represent the United States on the biggest stage at the Olympics,” Harriel said. “It’s a really proud moment for my club and my country.”
“It’s a huge honor. The Olympics are the biggest event in sports,” McGlynn added. “It’s an honor to be a part of it and to be part of such a special team as we are.”
McGlynn and Harriel were the first members in the history of the Philadelphia Union Club to be selected for the Olympics.
This will be the first time the U.S. men’s soccer team will compete in the Olympics since 2008.
“Harriel and McGlynn are scheduled to depart the United States following tonight’s rivalry match against the New York Red Bulls on July 6th. Both players will be honoured prior to the match. The players will arrive in France ahead of the grand start to the tournament and the team’s opening match against the host nation on July 24th,” a union spokesman said in a statement.
