WESTWOOD, Los Angeles (KABC) — A man has been arrested after allegedly sexually assaulting a female UCLA student in her on-campus dorm room, authorities said.
Suspect Jeffrey Brewer, 41, was arrested late Friday night.
According to a statement from the UCLA Police Department, the suspect allegedly entered a room at Saxon Residential Suites, 300 De Neve Drive, around 2:40 a.m. Friday and sexually assaulted the woman while she was in bed.
Brewer then left the room in an unknown direction, and the woman “received medical treatment at the scene,” the statement said.
“Detectives quickly developed a lead and after a full day of searching, officers located and arrested the suspect at approximately 9:45 p.m.,” the statement read. “The victim and two witnesses identified the suspect.”
Brewer was arrested on suspicion of assault with intent to commit a felony, false imprisonment, theft and forcible sexual penetration, according to campus police.
He is currently being held at the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department Inmate Reception Center, with bail set at more than $1 million. Eyewitness News has learned that campus police arrested Brewer in July 2023 on a misdemeanor charge, according to inmate records.
