UEFA have announced that plans are underway to improve the quality of the pitch at Frankfurt Arena following problems with the surface during England’s draw with Denmark.
During the Euro 2024 Group C match at home to Bundesliga club Eintracht Frankfurt, players struggled with the poor condition of the pitch.
Shortly after the start of the match, large chunks of grass were strewn across the field and after the match groundskeepers were seen filling buckets with grass.
“A detailed maintenance plan is being drawn up ahead of future matches at the venue to address specific issues and further improve quality,” UEFA said.
“UEFA and its independent pitch consultants have worked closely with Frankfurt’s ground team in the run-up to the competition to ensure optimal playing conditions and have seen a steady improvement in the overall pitch rating throughout last season.”
The next match at this venue will be on June 23rd, when hosts Germany will take on Switzerland in Group A.
Slovakia and Romania will face off in Group E on June 26, with the final match set to be a round of 16 match on July 1 between the winner of Group F and one of the top four third-placed teams.
