Spring Promise: The future looks bright for the UFL
It’s been a long and difficult road for spring pro football over the past decade, but early results suggest the UFL could be the most promising league yet.
Viewership figures for the UFL regular season have far surpassed those of spring football in recent years, with regular season games broadcast on FOX, ABC, ESPN, ESPN2 and FS1. The season averaged 816,000 viewers.The league not only beat the 2023 numbers of the USFL (601,000 viewers) and the XFL (622,000 viewers), but also the USFL’s 2022 performance (715,000 viewers) as its only spring league.
The increase in viewership gave the production team confidence, Director: Mitch Riggin and Producer: Mark Teitelman — and the operations team: Lindsay Wayne, Sarita Mainking, Phil Abrahams, Wilson Tenorman, Savannah Brotherton, Erin Knight, Carlos Gonzalez, Bill Moore, Eric Foster, Shawn Kwashnain, Wes Berry, Jordan McFadden, Doug Fuchs, Ron McGuggins, Jamie Necranson, and Tom Lynch.
“What this team has accomplished over the past three seasons, from the USFL to the UFL, has been amazing because they’ve had new challenges to overcome and new partners to work with,” Chaney said. “This year has been no different, and it’s been great to watch the team grow and integrate so smoothly with their new partners.”
