Emergency Proxy VotingThis will ensure that all eligible people can take part in the upcoming election process.
Deadline and Eligibility
The deadline for regular proxy voting is 5pm on Wednesday 26 June. If you are unable to vote in person after this time, you can opt for an emergency proxy vote. However, this is only possible if an unforeseen event occurs after the deadline for regular proxy voting. Applications for an emergency proxy vote can be submitted up until 5pm on election day.
Justification for emergency proxy voting
Reasons why you may apply for an emergency proxy vote include:
- Medical Emergencies: If a sudden health issue prevents you from voting in person.
- Work-related Absence: If an unexpected work commitment prevents you from going to your local polling place.
- Lost or damaged photo identificationIf your photo identification needed to vote is lost, stolen, destroyed or damaged after the deadline for applying for a Certificate of Voting Rights.

Contact the Election Bureau
Once you have completed the appropriate form, you can submit it to your local council’s electoral services team. This can be done by post or by mail, depending on your council’s specific requirements.
