There were a lot of negatives that came from the U.S. Men’s National Team’s loss to Panama in the Copa America, but the biggest negative was Tim Weah.

The Juventus winger received a red card in the 18th minute and was taken off the USMNT, who played 10-on-11 for much of the match, and his effort was a totally foolish shot to the head of Panama defender Roderick Miller.

Ware felt the criticism was unrelenting during and after the game, when a 2-1 loss put the U.S. in danger of early elimination. Coach Gregg Berhalter, who is currently under fire, called the decision a “stupid decision” but also had harsh words for the umpires.

USA player Tyler Adams said after the game that Ware had apologized to the team, and Ware later issued a public apology on his Instagram Story.

apology:

Today I have let my team and my country down.

I would like to extend my sincere apologies to my teammates, coaches, family and fans for the irreparable consequences that a moment of frustration caused.

Going forward, I promise to learn from this experience, not allow myself to be provoked by the opposition, and work hard to regain the trust and respect of my team and our supporters.

Whatever happens, I will keep fighting for my team and my country until that day comes.

I am no longer needed or capable of playing!! I sincerely apologize to everyone. My love for this team goes beyond just football and I am so saddened and angry at myself for putting my brothers through what they went through tonight.

The game marked the 24-year-old Weah’s 41st appearance for the United States, and he remains important to the team’s future as a winger opposite Christian Pulisic. The U.S. enters a must-win game against group favorite Uruguay on Monday at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City.
