The 124th U.S. Open is currently underway at Pinehurst No. 2 in Pinehurst, North Carolina.

Right from the get-go, the field will be chasing world No. 1 Scottie Scheffler, who is playing better than Tiger Woods has in his prime. Scheffler will tee off in the afternoon round (1:24 p.m. ET to be exact) along with Rory McIlroy and Xander Schauffele, and by that time they’ll know just how difficult the course is.

And it is expected to be a tough fight.

If you are looking for tea times you can find them here.

    From the course

PINEHURST, N.C. — The conditions here are perfect: Birds were chirping high in the pine trees and the sun was beginning to dissipate the morning mist as Tiger Woods and other early tee-time players began their first round.

The big question early on is how players will navigate Pinehurst’s notorious greens. The slope is steep enough, and if the greens dry out during the day, it could make for a long and frustrating first round for many in the field.

Big names like Scheffler, Schauffele and McIlroy don’t tee off until 1:14, so they should have a pretty good idea of what the course looks like by then.

  • June 13, 2024 (Thursday) 4:26 AM PDT

    Isn’t that ironic?

Two players are under par… both amateurs. Strange, right?

    Tiger Woods is coming…

  • June 13, 2024 (Thursday) 4:07 AM PDT

    And off they went…

The 124th U.S. Open has officially begun, and already Pinehurst’s No. 2 hole and its turtleback green have become a test of sorts: a bogey and a double bogey on the opening hole of the opening threesome, so fasten your seatbelts.
