Despite being ranked 19th in the world T20 rankings behind Nepal and Oman, the Americans outperformed their more experienced opponents, who are ranked 9th.

Bangladesh posted 153 for six, with Twahid Hridoy top-scoring with 58 off 47 balls and off-spinner Steven Taylor taking two wickets for nine runs from three overs.

Thanks to a brilliant 61-run partnership between Corey Anderson and Harmeet Singh, America reached the target with just three balls to go. They turned the game around at 94-5 with five overs left. Former New Zealand international Anderson hit 34 off 25 balls with two sixes, while former India Under-19 player Singh hit 33 off just 13 balls, including six threes and fours. recorded two.

Anderson hit a six on the penultimate ball of the 19th over, leaving him with nine needed for the last six balls. Anderson then hit Mahmudullah for another six, followed by a single, before Singh hit the next ball over extra cover for a four, clinching the win.

“I feel great,” Shin said. “I backed myself up and the main aspect of the game was to stay in the game till the end.In the end it came down to us playing our best in the last over and I think that was our plan ” he said.

“Kohli definitely has a lot of experience. He has played a lot of big tournaments, big matches himself. He knows how to finish games, how to stay calm under pressure, how to finish till the last ball… We all respect him,” he said.

Game 2 of the series is scheduled for Thursday in Houston.
