The U.S. men’s basketball team avoided a major upset on Saturday, beating South Sudan 101-100 behind a game-winning basket by LeBron James at the O2 Arena in London.
At halftime, Team USA was trailing South Sudan by 14 points. South Sudan is ranked 33rd in the FIBA rankings, while the U.S. is ranked No. 1. Team USA was favored by 43.5 points going into Saturday’s game.
James finished with 23 points in 23 minutes, along with six assists and six rebounds.
The U.S. comes into the match on a 3-0 record in pre-Olympic matches, having beaten Canada in Las Vegas and Australia and Serbia earlier this week in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, before traveling to London.
The team will face Germany on Monday in their final exhibition match before the Olympic Games begin.

The Paris Olympics will open on July 26, with the U.S. men’s team playing their tournament opener against Serbia two days later.
