USA TODAY’s flagship news and politics series, “States of America,” powers local journalism and provides viewers with an in-depth look at the pressing issues facing communities across the country through exclusive interviews and original reporting.
The award-winning episode addresses Mississippi’s restrictive abortion ban and the lack of maternal health care in rural areas of the state. A USA TODAY Network team went to Mississippi to understand how rising pregnancies are impacting women in a state that is already one of the highest-risk areas for pregnant women and infants in the country.
