The University of Arkansas football team has a tough schedule ahead of them in 2024. The Razorbacks have every regular member of the now-defunct SEC West except Alabama, along with Texas and Tennessee.
USA Today released their projections for the Power Four teams in the country, and Arkansas isn’t getting much attention from the national press. USA Today is projecting the Razorbacks to win only four games and have another losing season. While the projection seems a little low, it’s not surprising since there are a lot of unknowns with this football team.
But people in Fayetteville know Bobby Petrino. Arkansas fans know the Razorbacks could have been a good football team last year with just the addition of a competent offensive coordinator. The Hogs nearly beat Louisiana State in Baton Rouge and Alabama in Tuscaloosa in 2023. Of course, Arkansas eventually let go of the ropes, but that’s not relevant here.
The Razorbacks have a good chance to play in a bowl game this season, and while not many will be happy with a 6-6 record, it might be enough for Sam Pittman to keep his job.
Taylen Green is a player who will surprise people. Boise State hasn’t had a third-year quarterback with as much attention as the SEC has, so the pressure could affect him, but judging by everything that’s been reported about the youngster, Arkansas fans needn’t worry. His leadership is already effective in the locker room, and his football skills are already on display at Razorback Stadium.
With Green and Petrino leading the offense, Arkansas should be even stronger in 2024. The defense should also be solid with Travis Williams as defensive coordinator. With those two coordinators, the Razorbacks should be enough to pick up another win or two.
