A win for the USA, who are currently second in their group with four points, would bring an end to Pakistan’s World Cup run, with two points from three games.
Of course, from this group, the co-host nation along with India will also advance to the Super Eight.
Ireland are a competitive team with experienced players but they have looked badly out of form here and may find it more difficult to face the USA, who are playing very good T20 cricket at the moment.
They will be closely monitoring the fitness of skipper Monank Patel, who missed Wednesday’s match against India with a left shoulder injury.
Aaron Jones played in the captaincy role against Rohit Sharma’s side in New York.
Weather forecasts also predict that the match will be subject to heavy rains and if cancelled, this could also end Pakistan’s campaign.
This would give the US five points, putting it out of reach of Pakistan, which can currently only get a maximum of four points.
