USA vs West Indies live score, T20 World Cup 2024 today match: Chasing the target
129, West Indies beat USA by nine wickets in a Super 8 match. Shay Hope made 82 (8 sixes, 4 fours) off 39 balls. Hope reached 50 in just 26 balls.
This result puts West Indies in second place in Group 2 behind South Africa who won both their matches. But more importantly, West Indies’ NRR is now 1.81, the highest in Group 2. Even South Africa has an NRR of 0.63, while England’s is 0.41.
Earlier, the US could only set a target of 129 in a Super Eight match of the T20 World Cup at the Kensington Oval in Bridgetown, Barbados. After being ordered to bat first by West Indies captain Rovman Powell in the first innings of the match, the US went from 50/1 at one point to 65/4 in an instant.
The toss of the match was postponed due to light rain at Kensington Oval in Barbados on Saturday. The match will go ahead as scheduled, but rain is expected to continue for the rest of the evening.
The Windies are already in a tough spot after their unbeaten record was snapped by England in the opening match of the Super 8 series and they cannot afford to make things any harder in their quest to win a third T20 World Cup.
Meanwhile, the USA have struggled since winning consecutive matches against Canada and Pakistan, including a rain-out against Ireland in the group stage. They came close to shocking South Africa in their opening Super 8 match and were thwarted by India in the group stage, so it would be premature to give up just yet.
