Pearson Manville (State College, Pa./Team Pennsylvania) was named the 2024 USA Wrestling Athlete of the Week, presented by U.S. Air Force Special Warfare, June 26, 2024.
Manville was a key member of the Pennsylvania team at the 2024 Air Force Special Warfare Junior National Duals last week in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He went a perfect 14-0 in the Greco-Roman and freestyle tournaments, going 7-0 in each style. The Pennsylvania boys team placed runner-up in Greco-Roman and third in freestyle.
During Greco-Roman competition, Manville recorded six technical falls and only allowed his opponents a total of two match points. Similarly, during freestyle competition, Manville recorded five technical falls and one pinfall. Manville was named to the All-Tournament Team in both styles.
Notably, Manville has competed in the Junior Duals for four consecutive years, going undefeated in both styles each time, bringing his career record in the event to an impressive 61-0 with 29 wins in freestyle and 32 wins in Greco-Roman.
Currently ranked No. 3 in the FloWrestling national high school rankings as a 144-pound wrestler, Manville has appeared in three Pennsylvania high school finals and was the State College Area High School 2022 state champion. He has committed to wrestle at Arizona State University next season.
Manville was particularly active this summer on the USA Wrestling circuit, competing at both USA Wrestling regional events, the Phil Portuse Northeast Regional and Northwest Regional, winning both Greco-Roman and freestyle at the junior level, taking second place at the USA Wrestling Folkstyle National Championships and placing in the top five in freestyle at the U20 National Championships and the U20 World Team Trials.
Manville has competed at the U.S. Marine Corps Junior and Under-16 National Championships in Fargo, North Dakota for the past three years, winning first place in the Under-16 Greco-Roman and second place in freestyle in 2021, as well as placing third at the junior level in both styles the past two years.
