Usher’s Lovers & Friends Music Festival was canceled hours before it was scheduled to begin.
Organizers of the Las Vegas festival, named after the singer’s 2004 hit song with Ludacris and Lil Jon, released a statement on its official website, saying: Social media Friday.
“Lovers & Friends Festival organizers have been monitoring the weather for several days and have been actively preparing for a windy Saturday,” the statement said.
The R&B extravaganza, which was scheduled to be held at the Las Vegas Festival Grounds, has been canceled due to “a high wind warning issued by the National Weather Service.”
“Following advice from the National Weather Service and consulting with local officials, we must make the safest decision for our fans, artists, and staff and cancel tomorrow’s Lovers & Friends Festival,” the statement continued. Ta. “This was a very heartbreaking decision. We know our fans have been looking forward to this event for months, coming from all over the world to enjoy this incredible lineup of superstars. We have worked hard to create a great event and we are just as sorry for this as you are.”
National Weather Service warning coordinating meteorologist Dan Burke confirmed to USA TODAY that winds of 25 to 35 mph are expected during the event, with gusts as high as 55 mph possible.
Usher announced his first full performance of the album “Confessions” in commemoration of its 20th anniversary, and shared his feelings about the festival’s cancellation on Instagram.

“Man…I’m just as disappointed as you,” Usher wrote on his Instagram Story on Saturday. “As we prepare to gather and celebrate today, I must follow the orders of city officials and the National Weather Service to protect you and remain committed to the belief that everything happens for a reason. .
“I’m sorry I can’t see you today, but please know that I’m always working on something to express my heartfelt gratitude to each and every one of you who continue to support me,” he wrote. Ta. “See you later.”

Hours before the cancellation was announced, Furtado posted a video to his Instagram Story of himself rehearsing on stage at the festival, writing, “Can’t wait to see you all tomorrow!”
Lovers & Friends ticket holders can get a refund
Festival organizers said ticket holders “will receive a refund to their original method of payment within 30 days if they purchased their tickets directly through Frontgate Tickets.”
