Vicky Kaushal has slowly but surely established himself as one of the finest talents of the current generation. With his latest release, Bad Newz, he proved that he can dance as well as do comedy and these two reasons made the film a hit at the box office. In its opening weekend, the film made around Rs 297 crore but has been on a downward trend since then, with only a slight spike on Tuesday, purely due to a buy one get one free offer. It grossed Rs 428.5 crore in its first week.
The film’s downward trend continued on Friday, its second weekend, with initial estimates from Sakhnilk putting the film at just Rs 2 crore, a 72% drop from Thursday’s Rs 2.75 crore. The film’s total gross now stands at Rs 448.5 crore. However, heading into the weekend, the box office collection is expected to pick up and cross the Rs 500 crore mark by the end of the week. The film will face stiff competition this week as Deadpool & Wolverine, starring Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman, released on Friday and is expected to gross around Rs 210 crore in India and cross the Rs 500 crore mark by the end of the weekend.
Bad Newz also stars Tripti Dimri, who is starring in her first film after the success of Ranbir Kapoor’s ‘Animal’, and Ammy Virk, who is riding high on the success of his previous Punjabi film ‘Kudi Haryane Val Di’ opposite Sonam Bajwa.
