A tornado was spotted on the ground in southeastern Nebraska, with some warnings in effect west of the Omaha metropolitan area.
The National Weather Service confirmed just after 3 p.m. local time Friday that a tornado was north of Waverly, Nebraska, moving northeast. Authorities called on residents in the area to evacuate immediately.
Footage posted to X (formerly Twitter) by SevereStudios weather videographer Nick Gorman shows a large tornado intercept north of Lincoln, also in Lancaster County.

A tornado warning was issued Friday afternoon for the area near Interstate 80 between Lincoln and Omaha, according to the Nebraska State Patrol.

Tornadoes were reported in Kansas, Wyoming and Colorado.
At least three other tornadoes have been reported since Thursday, one near Bird City, Kansas, one near Yoder, Wyoming, and one near Akron, Colorado, according to the National Weather Service.
Another storm is expected to develop on the east side of the Plains on Friday, with the possibility of more tornadoes and hail. More severe weather is expected by Saturday, with the storm producing frequent lightning and severe wind gusts across the central Mississippi Valley and south-central Plains.
Kansas Governor Laura Kelly has declared a state of disaster emergency due to severe weather.
“I encourage all Kansans to prepare for tornadoes by preparing emergency kits and family planning,” Governor Kelly said. “Stay up-to-date on local weather conditions by listening to NOAA Weather Radio and local TV and radio stations. If a warning is issued, it’s important to evacuate.”
