EA Sports has released their list of the top 100 players for EA SPORTS College Football 25. One Virginia Tech Hokie made it onto the list.
2023 Third Team All-ACC honoree Dorian Strong was the highest rated Virginia Tech player. Strong is listed as a 91 overall cornerback with 91 speed and 94 acceleration. Only two ACC players are ranked higher than Dorian Strong in the speed category. Louisville cornerback Quincy Riley is listed as a 92 speed and California running back Jayden Ott is also listed as a 92 speed.
Dorian Strong was ranked ninth out of the 10 cornerbacks selected in the top 100. The only player ranked higher than Strong was Kansas cornerback Kobe Bryant, who was ranked 90 points overall and 75th in the game.
Dorian Strong finished just above Bryant, ranked 66th in the game. Strong narrowly edged out Miami (FL) halfback Damien Martinez, who was ranked 67th, and Strong narrowly lost out to Oregon cornerback Jabbar Muhammad, who was the highest-ranked player at 65th.
Not all statistics have been released yet, and only speed, acceleration, strength, awareness, and jump power have been released at this time. As mentioned above, Dorian Strong has a speed rating of 91 and an acceleration rating of 94. However, Dorian Strong received a poor strength rating, finishing with a rating of 58, the lowest of all cornerbacks on the list. Strong’s awareness rating was fairly high, at 90, behind only three cornerbacks on the list: Jabbar Muhammad (Oregon), Denzel Burke (Ohio State), and Will Johnson (Michigan). Finally, Dorian Strong’s jump power rating was also quite low. Strong received a rating of 90 for jump power, which is fine at first glance, but considering all the other cornerbacks have higher ratings, the rating seems quite low.
The only player with a lower jump rating, including wide receivers and cornerbacks, is Miami (Fla.) wide receiver Xavier Restrepo, whose jump rating of 87 ranks 93rd on the top 100 list.
While players like Mansour Delane, Antoine Powell Ryland and Eneas Peebles may feel like they should have been on this list, it’s nice to see Virginia Tech players receiving such high praise on such a large scale.
