Virginia Tech football is preparing for its biggest recruiting weekend of the season

Virginia Tech football coach Brent Pry has begun building the class of 2025. The team currently has seven freshmen committed, six of whom are from Virginia. When he took over as head coach from Justin Fuente, he knew he needed to repair relationships within the state of Virginia to turn the program around.

On Friday afternoon, three-star defensive end Christian Evans became the sixth in-state recruit to commit to Virginia Tech, marking a huge weekend for the Hokies’ third-year coach. The commitment came one week after Sheldon Robinson committed. With more than a dozen recruits in Blacksburg this weekend for their official visits, this weekend could be the biggest recruiting weekend on the calendar for the staff.

Quarterback Kelden Ryan, wide receiver Jaeden Anderson, linebacker Brett Clutterbaugh and cornerback Nalley Harrell are also scheduled to visit this weekend and will likely assist staff and current players in their recruiting efforts. Preferred running back Jeffrey Overton and offensive lineman Nathaniel Wright are also scheduled to visit and are pegged to Virginia Tech by 247Sports’ Crystal Ball projection. Cornerback Major Preston.

One freshman scheduled to visit this weekend was defensive end Jaquavious Dodd. He decided to attend the University of South Carolina. Pry met with Dodd and head coach Shane Beamer late Thursday night. It was a strange time to make a decision, to say the least, but Pry now needs to pivot and focus elsewhere. I expect Virginia Tech will continue to be in contact with Dodd and try to recruit him at some point.

This marks the biggest recruiting effort since Pry took over as Virginia Tech’s head coach, as Pry looks to add more players to the Class of 2025 and this weekend will be their final chance to prove Blacksburg is home.
