Lok Sabha Elections 2024 Phase 2 Live Updates: Voting begins in 13 States, UTs

2024 Elections Phase 2 Voting: There was 65% voter turnout in the first phase of Sabah State Elections

Voting for 88 constituencies in the second phase of the 18th Lok Sabha elections has begun in 13 states and union territories. More than 1,200 candidates are participating in the polls, including four candidates from Outer Manipur.

Kerala has 20 seats in total, Karnataka has 14 out of 28 seats, Rajasthan has 13 seats, Maharashtra and Uttar Pradesh have 8 seats each, Madhya Pradesh has 7 seats, Assam and Bihar have 5 seats each, and Chhattisgarh has 20 seats each. Three seats each in West Bengal and one each in Manipur, Tripura and Jammu and Kashmir will go to polls tomorrow.

Prominent participants in the second phase of the fray are Union Minister Rajiv Chandrasekhar, Bharatiya Janata Party’s Tejasvi Surya, Hema Malini, Arun Govil and Congress leader Rahul Gandhi. They are Shashi Tharoor, DK Suresh, brother of Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar, and former Karnataka Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy. .

In 2019, the NDA won 56 out of 89 seats and the UPA won 24 seats. Six of these seats were redrawn as part of the delimitation exercise.

The first phase of the seven-phase elections was held last Friday for 102 seats in 21 states and union territories. Voter turnout was approximately 65.5%.

“We have made all possible preparations for today’s elections. The polling stations are decorated. There is no possibility of violence at any polling station and we have not received any reports of it. “Voters should feel safe and vote. It’s a celebration of democracy. It’s a matter of national pride and voters have to participate in it,” said Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar.

Around 2.8 crore voters will decide the fate of 152 candidates in the second phase of the Lok Sabha election contest for 13 seats in Rajasthan on Friday, Chief Electoral Officer Praveen said. Mr.Gupta said on Thursday.

He said all preparations were in place for the second phase of the elections.

There are approximately 28,758 polling places in the state. He said over 1,72,000 personnel were on duty for smooth conduct of elections and over 82,000 personnel of Rajasthan Police, Home Guard, RAC, CAPF were working to ensure free, fair and fair elections. He added that they have been deployed as agents at various locations to conduct elections in a transparent manner.
