Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Uddhav Thackeray on Saturday said state legislators who left the party in 2022 to join Eknath Shinde-led camp, leading to a split in the Shiv Sena, will not be able to rejoin the party even if they want to return.
“Those who left us and are now saying they want to return will never be accepted,” Thackeray said, adding that the Maha Vikas Aghadi coalition would contest the Maharashtra assembly elections together.
“Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA)’s victory in the Maharashtra Lok Sabha elections is just the beginning and not the end. Our alliance will also win the upcoming Assembly elections in the state,” Uddhav Thackeray said.
Thackeray said the people of the state have shown how hollow the myth of the Bharatiya Janata Party’s invincibility is.
Similarly, Congress Party (SP) chief Sharad Pawar also ruled out the possibility of his nephew Ajit Pawar rejoining the party.
Meanwhile, Indian National Congress leader Chavan said a change of government was imminent in Maharashtra following the results of the Lok Sabha elections.
‘Thank you PM Modi…’: Sharad Pawar slams BJP
The Congress Party (SP) leader criticised Prime Minister Narendra Modi and thanked him for creating a conducive political atmosphere for the Maha Vikas Agada (MVA).
“I thank Prime Minister Narendra Modi for creating a favourable political atmosphere for the MVA.”
Pawar’s remarks were in reference to the recently concluded Indian Lok Sabha elections, in which the BJP won 13 seats, a dramatic increase from the one seat it won in 2019, while the Shiv Sena (UBT) won nine seats and the NCP (SP) won eight seats.
Sharad Pawar addressed a joint press conference along with Shiv Sena (UBT) supremo Uddhav Thackeray and Congress leader Prithviraj Chavan, in which all the leaders expressed confidence in the alliance ahead of the upcoming state assembly elections.

In the seat-sharing arrangement for the general elections, Uddhav Thackeray’s party won the maximum number of seats among the three. Of the 48 seats in the Lower House of the Rajya Sabha, the Sena (UBT) contested 21, followed by the BJP with 17 and the New Socialist Party (SP) with 10.
In comparison, the ruling Maha Yuti Party could win just 17 seats, while the BJP’s tally would plummet to nine from 23 seats (which it won in 2019). Eknath Shinde’s Shiv Sena won seven seats, while Ajit Pawar’s NCP could win just one seat.
