Boyfriend Blush is all over my social media right now (and Jacob Elordi from Bottega Veneta too).
This makeup trend involves applying blush to mimic the look of a man, especially your boyfriend, after he’s just finished a workout. Boyfriend blush is applied under the cheekbones, from the ears toward the nose. The aim is to give the appearance of a sporty, slightly flushed look. The male poster children for boyfriend blush are, predictably, Prince Harry and Prince William, and their mother, the late Princess Diana.

This isn’t revolutionary — the idea of low blush and a natural “rosy glow” has been around for a long time in editorials and on the runways (in fact, it was featured in AFW’s Rory William Docherty and All Is A Gentle Spring issue) — but I love the internet and its ability to obsess over fun makeup looks, whether they’re recycled or not.

Despite my lack of technical skills, I tried Boyfriend Blush and loved the results. I think applying extra blush to the bridge of your nose makes it look more natural. Some may say this makes you look sunburned, but when you blush naturally, your blood vessels dilate and you don’t know where it begins or ends. I’ll try anything that makes me look fresh and youthful.
As for the product you use, that’s entirely up to you. I love creams because I find them easier to apply and give a dewy finish. The colour you choose will also depend on your skin tone, but a sheer raspberry or cool pink is a good place to start.
