If you can’t budget for glitzy resorts like Cannes or St. Tropez, why not head to the coast of Croatia, a favorite destination of Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán. (A bearded, T-shirt-wearing, and noticeably more down-to-earth, Orbán was photographed on the island of Brac in the summer of 2022 and spotted with fans on another island, Vis, this month.)
How to get there: The French Riviera is just under two hours from Brussels by flight, or about 12 hours by car if you follow the example of Czech MEP and Patriot Party member Filip Turek, who has already driven from Prague to Brussels to Strasbourg in his 1984 Rolls Royce, ostensibly to give the European Union’s carbon-conscious policies a middle finger. The Croatian coastal city of Split is also about a two-hour flight from Brussels, with ferry services to the surrounding islands.

Remember former Socialist-Democratic MEPs Pierre-Antonio Panzeri and Eva Kaili’s affinity for Morocco and Qatar? This summer, why not pay tribute to their achievements by flying to an exotic destination where you can hop on a camel and wander the desert?
Whether you’re interested in adventurous outings on the sand or not, you’re guaranteed not to be bored. With Qatar’s fascinating modern architecture and Morocco’s UNESCO World Heritage Sites, both countries have much to offer as attractive holiday destinations.
How to get there: Ryanair offers cheap flights to major cities in Morocco, but you have to depart from Charleroi. It’s not luxurious, but you can travel discreetly. If your destination is Qatar, Qatar Airways offers direct flights from Brussels Airport. It may be a little more complicated to get discreet, but you’ll enjoy a classy flight.
(Most Others) Socialists
Not everyone can (or wants to) go to Qatar, and with fewer countries under socialist regimes on the European political map these days, why not go to Spain (ruled by the Ken of Europe, Pedro Sanchez) instead?
