Whether before or after voting, battleground Rajgarh remains hot

Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): The Rajgarh Lok Sabha constituency is in the limelight, be it before or after the polls.

This happened after former chief minister and Congress candidate Digvijaya Singh accepted a challenge from Bharatiya Janata Party’s Lodmal Nagar MP.

It was therefore not out of context that both parties claimed victory after voting was held in the constituency on Tuesday, recording a turnout of 75.39%.

Voter turnout in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections was 64.3% and in 2019 it was 74.39%.

The election is important for Singh as he ran against Bharatiya Janata Party’s Praya Thakur from Bhopal in 2019 and lost by a wide margin.

Rajgarh was once considered Singh’s citadel, but over time his influence seems to have waned and the BJP has infiltrated his stronghold.

In this election, Singh worked hard and emotionally appealed to voters that this would be his last campaign.

The Rajgarh Lok Sabha comprises eight seats: Chanchola, Raghogarh, Narsinghul, Viola, Rajgarh, Kirchpur, Saranpur and Susnar.

The BJP won six seats in the Assembly and two in the Assembly. In the 2023 parliamentary elections, the average turnout reported from these seats was 83.94%.

However, the turnout in the Lok Sabha elections was lower than in the parliamentary elections.

Voter turnout in the Lok Sabha election was lower than that in the Assembly as Bharatiya Janata Party voters stayed indoors on voting day, Congress officials said.

However, the Bharatiya Janata Party is painting a different picture, saying it will win the seat as the vote share was so high.

Congress spokesperson Bhupendra Gupta said: “The first votes in northern India went to Congress. Congress voters came out of their homes in large numbers and encouraged others to support the party. However, the BJP supporters stayed away from the polling booths as the party’s slogan was ‘400 Birr for 400 Birr’,” Mr. Gupta said.

“In this election, the turnout in Rajgarh was higher than the turnout in the previous Lok Sabha elections (64.3% in 2014 and 74.39% in 2019),” BJP leader Rajnish Agarwal said. Ta.

Agarwal said the Congress veteran worked hard and his team took voters to the polling booths, but the Bharatiya Janata Party will have the last laugh.
