Chancellor Rishi Sunak’s announcement came on the day official figures showed Britain’s inflation rate had fallen sharply to 2.3%, the lowest level in nearly three years. April’s drop marked the biggest progress yet on five pledges Sunak made in January 2023, including halving inflation from more than 11% at the end of 2022. Sunak hailed the new figures as evidence his plan is working.
“Today marks a critical moment for our economy as inflation returns to normal. Brighter days lie ahead, but only if we stick to our plans to improve economic security and opportunity for everyone. Masu.”
Overall, Sunak sees some positive effects from his economic policies and flagship Rwandan immigration plan. With England also playing the Euros during this period, it may be the best time for the British Prime Minister to take a chance.
British voters will choose all 650 members of the House of Commons for up to five-year terms. The party with a majority in the House of Representatives, either alone or in coalition, will form the next government. That leader will become the new prime minister.
