ISLAMABAD:

Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) Chief Minister Sohail Afridi said he is determined to follow the instructions of PTI founder Imran Khan “to the letter” and will keep preparing for a street movement against the government.

In a post on micro-blogging site X, Afridi, who belongs to the PTI, said on Sunday his position on the planned protest against the government remains unchanged and any news attributed to him “beyond this” is purely someone’s personal interpretation.

“My leader has instructed me to manage the administrative affairs of my province while also preparing for a street movement. God willing, I will follow these instructions to the letter,” he said.

Afridi, who is scheduled to visit Karachi next week, noted that Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah has invited him for a meeting “in keeping with democratic values and respect for office”.

“I thanked him [Shah] and said that during the visit I would meet the people of my province, and if they faced any difficulty or issue there, I would certainly meet him to seek its resolution,” he added.

He said on Sunday, January 11, at 4pm he will pay his respects at the mausoleum of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah. After spending three days in Lahore, CM Sohail Afridi is now set to travel to Sindh as the PTI intensifies preparations for its planned February 8 protest.

The visits are being carried out on the instructions of the incarcerated PTI founder Imran Khan, who has tasked the young K-P chief minister with mobilising the public ahead of a major power show marking the second anniversary of the parliamentary elections next month.

Afridi’s Lahore visit, the political powerhouse of the country, generated controversy, with the K-P chief minister formally lodging a complaint with his Punjab counterpart over what he alleged was inappropriate treatment during the tour.
