While Barack Obama’s wife, Michelle Obama, has denied speculation that she will go into politics, the former US president has spoken about his daughter’s career plans.
Speaking at a Los Angeles fundraiser for incumbent President Joe Biden on Saturday, Barack Obama addressed the possibility of Sasha and Malia Obama entering politics, saying his wife is making sure their daughters stay out of it.
“There’s no need to answer that question because Michelle instilled in them too early that going into politics was insanity. It’s never going to happen,” he said.

Maria (25 years old), who graduated from Harvard University in 2021, has entered the film industry. She works under the name Maria Ann. Her latest film, “The Heart,” had its world premiere at the 2024 Sundance Film Festival.
“I think the film is about finding the place of tenderness and intimacy in all these things. It’s about lost things, lonely people, forgiveness and regret,” Maria said of the film, which she wrote and directed.
Last year, 23-year-old Sasha Obama graduated from the University of Southern California with a degree in sociology.

Although Michelle Obama is a leading candidate within the Democratic Party, she has vowed never to enter politics.
In an interview with Oprah Winfrey last year, the former first lady said she never hinted that she was interested in politics: “I mean, I agreed to support my husband. He wanted it and he was very good at it. But I never said, ‘I want to run.’ Not once.”
In March, the former first lady’s communications director, Crystal Carson, reiterated that she would not run for president and would support Biden’s candidacy.
“Former First Lady Michelle Obama has stated multiple times that she does not intend to run for president,” Carson said. “Mrs. Obama supports the reelection campaigns of President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris.”
At the end of her husband’s administration, Michelle Obama declared that she never wanted either of her children to hold high public office again.
