An unusual, or perhaps familiar, real estate trend is taking off.
I saw this featured in an article in Wired Magazine and of course my first question was how long will it be before something like this happens in Montana, or is it already happening here? Is it?
what happened: According to Wired, companies allow investors to invest in real estate, similar to the stock market, but investors only own part or part of the property. In some cases, owners may only be able to stay in the property they have invested in for a short period of time.

Criticism: Wired Magazine’s Instagram post had quite a few comments criticizing the trend, many calling it a “reinvention of the timeshare.” But some people call it “stupid” or say our society is “dystopian.” One comment revealed a larger problem.
wonderful. It’s another way that housing stock goes to speculative investors while people who need permanent housing lose access. Not to mention how to stimulate the market to justify multi-million dollar homes and higher rents. -@andredoubleu (via Instagram)
Is this happening in Montana? Multiple websites offer this investment opportunity. Wired cited Arrived, Lofty, Landa, and mogul as companies that already offer these investment opportunities. When I searched each site, I found this:
- Alibrid had real estate in Arizona and Utah, but no real estate in Montana.
- Lofty had properties available primarily in large cities.
- Landa focuses primarily on the southern United States and New York.
- Mogul required an account to view properties.
I didn’t create an account on Mogul, but they probably don’t have any properties available in Montana right now. But will this become visible soon? Please let us know what you think about our app.
