Austin, Texas — Texas women’s basketball freshman Jordan Lee has been selected to the U.S. women’s U18 national team, USA Basketball announced.
The 12 members selected from the 26 trial participants will compete in the 2024 FIBA U18 Women’s America Cup to be held in Bucaramanga, Colombia from June 17th to 23rd.
Lee was a McDonald’s All-American this year and represented the United States at the 2024 Nike Hoop Summit.
Lee, a 6-0 guard from Stockton, Calif., is ranked No. 8 as a recruit in the 2024 class by ESPN. Lee averaged 20.1 points, 2.7 assists and 7.4 rebounds per game during the 2022-23 season, earning first-team All-State honors. She was a first-team Junior All-American for the 2022-23 season, and her team was a NorCal D1 GBB runner-up for the 2022-23 season. Lee won MVP at Curry’s camp in 2022. She also excelled in track and field, where she was a two-time All-American at the U.S. Junior National Track and Field Championships. She won back-to-back state championships in the 1600m and 800m in track and field. Lee also excelled in her academics, earning her 4.4 GPA at St. Mary’s High School and becoming a member of the National Honor Society.
Terry Moren (Indiana University) will serve as the USA’s head coach, along with assistants Jose Fernandez (University of South Florida) and Neale Ivey (University of Notre Dame).
Eight teams will participate in the 2024 FIBA U18 Women’s America Cup. FIBA recently announced that the United States has tied Brazil, Mexico, and Puerto Rico in Group B. The United States tips off June 17 against Brazil at 4:10 p.m. ET, followed by June 18 (4:10 p.m. ET) and June 19 (1:40 p.m. ET). will play against Puerto Rico and Mexico, respectively.
The U.S. women’s team owns 11 of the 13 U18 gold medals and has won 10 consecutive times since 2000. The top four teams will qualify for the 2025 FIBA U19 Women’s World Cup.
