  • “A disgruntled employee entered a linen shop (Delaware County Linen Shop behind us) and shot and killed five people, including five co-workers,” said Delaware County District Attorney Jack Stollstamer. The statement was made at a press conference held near the scene.
  • The shooting suspect was arrested by police in nearby Trainor, authorities said.

At least two employees were killed and three others were injured in a shooting at a family-owned linen store in Chester, Pennsylvania, Delaware County authorities said Wednesday.

‘Disgruntled’ employee opens fire at Delaware County business

“This is a story that happens all too often across the United States,” Delaware County District Attorney Jack Stollsteimer said at a morning news conference, calling the shooting an “absolute tragedy.” Told. “A disgruntled employee entered a linen store (the Delaware County linen store behind us) and shot and killed five people, including five of his co-workers.”

Delaware County dispatchers say officers were dispatched to Delaware County Linen on West Fourth Avenue near Hayes Street around 8:30 a.m. The family-owned business is a linen rental and laundry services company that has been in business since 1988, according to its website. It primarily serves restaurants, country clubs, hotels and other businesses in Pennsylvania and some neighboring states.

Stollsteimer said at least five people were shot, two of them fatally, after they arrived at work. Investigators said the shootings took place both inside and outside the store and involved a handgun.

“This is a sad situation,” said Chester Police Chief Stephen Gretzky.

At least two employees were killed and three others were injured in a shooting at a family-owned linen store in Chester, Pennsylvania, Delaware County authorities said Wednesday.

Chester police officers rushed one of the shooting victims to the hospital.

Stolsteimer called on people to pray for the souls of the three injured at the hospital.

An employee who was inside the store at the time of the shooting told NBC10’s Rosemary Connors that the gunshots came as a surprise. Many people start working early at the company.

Stollsteimer said the shooting suspect – an “angry” worker – had had problems with co-workers in the past, but there was no indication that a shooting had occurred.

“This is a terrible tragedy that is being felt right now by this entire community,” Stollsteimer said.

Police in a nearby town arrest shooting suspect

The police prosecutor’s office said the suspected gunman, who worked at the store, was in police custody, but there was no longer a threat.

Gretzky said police in nearby Trainor, Pennsylvania, stopped the suspect’s car after the description of the suspect’s car was released.

Police from other police departments say there is a countywide response at the scene, so a heavy police presence is expected to continue in the area.

Minutes after the shooting, a police officer with a gun drawn was seen opening the store’s door.
